Take 2 for LitterMaid

I ordered the LitterMaid LME9000 Elite Mega Automatic Litter Box from Drs Foster and Smith earlier this month. Despite the mixed reviews, I chose this brand over others because I’d had a LitterMaid box that lasted 15 years with my previous fur baby, Hobie.


I received my box about a week after placing the order. The first thing I noticed was the large pan and fancy controls. I don’t use the programming features, but they are nice to have. The large pan is nice because Bruce likes to dig excessively at times, so this has helped keep his slinging under control. The only complaint I had initially was the noise — this unit is LOUD! But since this box is located at the far end of the house, no one’s woken up during nightly potty trips, so it’s mostly a non-issue.

I’d had the unit for not quite a week when the motor seemed to get stuck. I’d unplugged and plugged in the unit several times, and turned it on and off per the user manual, but it refused to return to its default position. I called LitterMaid’s customer service and was pleasantly surprised at how quick the young man was able to verify my issue and gather the information necessary for a replacement. He gave me the warranty information I needed to send in, and within a week, I had an entire replacement unit.

So far, it is working as normally as the first unit did so I’m hoping it continues to do so. I’ll be sure to make another post if anything changes! ^_^
